Traditional psychotherapy focuses on difficulties in the present and utilizes the past to gain insight. Looking at how our families and our background effect who we are now creates a context for how we function. Understanding our feelings and the roots of these emotions play a large part in the therapy process. Many clients come to therapy because they are having difficulty with emotions and with relationships at home or at work. There is a desire for relief from the problems they are encountering as well as a need to acquire new skills and tools to be more productive and successful.
Coaching focuses on improving the present and creating a more positive future with new possibilities. Going beyond where you are now, moving in new directions, discovering your passions and your dreams and making them a reality creates a more meaningful life. The coach is a partner and co-creator collaborating with you and supporting you on your journey.
Coaching assumes the basic emotional healthfulness of the client that contributes to moving forward to realize their potential.
